Ranch worker Joaquin Medina dies after being hit by branch while on the job in Chico, CA.

On Monday, July 19, an accident at a ranch in Chico, CA claimed the life of ranch worker Joaquin Medina.  Medina was employed at the ranch on Cana Highway when the accident happened.  Early reports indicate that, sometime before 12:30 p.m., Medina was shooting at squirrels in a tree with a shotgun.  Allegedly, he accident shot a tree branch, which broke.  As the branch fell, it struck Medina in the head.  Rescue workers were called to the scene at 12:30 p.m., but Medina was dead when they arrived.  The accident is still being investigated.
