Worker Jose Jerez is injured after fall from Ground Zero tower.
On Monday, March 8, Jose Jerez was injured when he fell approximately 100 feet while working on the skyscraper at Ground Zero in New York City. Jerez was rushed to the hospital but his current condition is not known. According to fire department officials, Port Authority, the company in charge of Ground Zero construction, initially refused to allow New York City fire department officials onto the scene.
Construction work is often dangerous. But the simple truth is that many accidents could be avoided if clients, construction companies, and other workers would simply follow standard safety procedure. When this procedure is ignored, those injured in construction accidents may wish to file a lawsuit. Unfortunately, this is never easy. I have worked on construction accident cases for twenty years, and I have seen both individual workers and construction companies go to extraordinary lengths to avoid accepting responsibility for an accident. But ultimately, the laws are designed to protect workers. With an experienced construction accident attorney on your side, you can be sure that those responsible for your accident are held accountable.
